Kindergarten is a huge milestone for kids and as parents we can make it a lot easier on them with some preparation. Here is my list of our favorite kindergarten back to school essentials.
My Evie is going to Kindergarten this year and I can’t believe that she’s already old enough to be going to school with all the big kids! She was a little nervous to start Kindergarten so we came up with a list of ways we are going to help her make this transition easier! She has done so good so far so I think that these things have helps a ton to help her have more fun and feel more comfortable!
1. Lunch Box Notes from MyWish4U
These lunchbox notes are absolutely adorable and the perfect way to make sure your kids know you’re thinking about them. They also help your kids to know that even if it might feel like it, you’re not so far away. There are three different lunchbox notes:
- Zany Facts & Zingers – Overflowing with wild and interesting facts about our world and super funny jokes to make the kids laugh, too!
- Brainteasers & Giggles – Clever brainteasers and silly jokes make this a favorite with the kids!
- Cool Facts & Jokes- Cool and fascinating facts to learn about our world and funny jokes to make them laugh, too!
They are only $4.99 and you can find them at all Target Stores Nation Wide or here.
2. Affirmations
We say these every single morning before she goes to school! You can create your own, you can make them simple or more complex, you can change them every week or keep them the same! It’s totally up to you!
Here are hers:
“I am kind, I am strong, I am brave, I am a friend, I am a child of God.”
This book is AMAZING and the most perfect way to empower your girls! It Includes 15 do-it-yourself experiments and projects each providing reinforcement of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math – that’s STEM – concepts.
One of my favorite quotes from the book “It’s so important for our girls to know they’re smart, capable and creative because THEY ARE. STEM Like a Girl helps our girls to see the world around them as accessible and within reach through inspiring the creativity that is already there.” -Kate T. Parker

This fabulous product is clinically shown to visibly reduce the overall appearance of scars in an easy-to-use gel that goes on purple and rubs in clear with a kid-friendly scent.
After all of our summer fun Evie walked way with quite a few scars, especially on her face and she was feeling self conscious of them! So I snagged some Mederma Scar Cream and she is loving it so far! I’m excited to see how much it helps her scars. Generally, Mederma for Kids users start to see noticeable improvement after about 4 weeks of daily usage, with optimum improvement in 8 weeks.
You can purchase it here.
5. Consistent After School Routine
This one is huge for us! Everyday after Evie gets home I make sure to grab a snack, some juice, and sit with her at the table and chat for 5-10 minutes- no matter what. She looks forward to this time and doesn’t let me forget! I learn so much about her day when I sit with her and make it a priority.
Do you do any of these things with your school aged kids? I would love to hear some of your ideas!
