Furnish Your Living Room for Under $700 - Beauty, Baby, and a Budget

If you’ve been following along on my Instagram then you know that we built a house and just moved in in January! The whole building process was a wild but extremely fun ride! I will definitely get around to blogging all about the building process, so stay tuned for that in the next month or two.

This home is our first home so we had to save a ton of money going into it and we hardly had any furniture (plus what we did have wasn’t my style anymore anyways so we were pretty much starting from scratch). Since we had to save so much for our home, of course we didn’t have a ton of money left over to buy furniture. So I did what I do best and went on a hunt for cheap but awesome furniture. This post will give you my best tips on how to save money and furnish your living room for under $700!

My 3 Best Tips on Saving Money and Furnishing Your Home

1. Sell your old furniture-

I can NOT stress this one enough. If your style has change since you last purchased furniture (which mine did drastically) then get on a Facebook yard sale group (there are tons of them, where I live, at least one for every city) or KSL (if you’re in Utah), or craigslist and post them for sale! Even if you sell these items for really cheap, it all adds up and you can put all of that money towards your new furniture!

2. Utilize those same sites to buy gently used furniture-

I have a pretty high standard for what I will buy on yard sale sites like the ones listed above and with a little bit of patience I have always found what I needed and in fantastic condition! Just a month ago I found a brand new Wayfair couch (perfect condition in it’s original packaging) for $200 (originally $650). This couch is in my other living room but you can see a picture of it below.

3. Use deal sites like DHP, Amazon, Walmart, and Ebay to purchase your furniture-

I know that these are very unconventional ways to buy furniture but it will end up being hundreds cheaper to buy from these websites than to go into a typical furniture store. I got every single piece of furniture in my living room from DHP, these pieces are also sold on Amazon and I have been beyond impressed with the quality of items that we received! These gorgeous blue chairs are ridiculously comfy!

Also, something that I can’t stress enough is to be patient! We bought all of our big furniture items on Black Friday sales and saved hundreds more that way. It was one of the best decisions that we made when it came to furnishing our home!

For each of these pieces, the prices might be a bit higher now because I got them all on Black Friday sales, watch out for those deals! They are still inexpensive pieces but who would say no to an even better deal?
