Evie girl absolutely loves bath time! I know that some of that might just be her personality but some of it might also have to do with our bath time routine! I’m a first time mom so I realize that I am absolutely NOT an expert on the matter, BUT I have talked to a lot of moms and taken tons of advice from my own mom to come up with three things I think are really important things to do with your toddlers to help them love bath time! Below you’ll find my 3 Toddler Bath Time Essentials.
3 Toddler Bath Time Essentials
1. Have a Routine.
One very common theme with kids (I learned this tip from my mama who is a first grade teacher of 15 years and has 5 kids) is that they crave routine and boundaries. They really do! I bathe Evie every Monday and every Thursday at 9 am. You might bathe your kids more or less or you might even bathe them at night…whatever works for you!! The main theme here is to pick a day/time and stick with it! Help your toddler to know when to expect their bath and they will thrive on that knowledge!
One Thursday morning I got busy and forgot to bathe Evie, it was around 11 am and she was just SO cranky. Needed me to hold her at all times and wasn’t happy with just about anything I did (sound familiar? haha). I went through the day in my head trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with her. Then I realized that the only thing out of the ordinary was that I forgot to bathe her! So I got her in the bath and by the time I got her out and dressed she was my happy little girl again! Many things could have been making her cranky but I know that her bath routine had something to do with her mood that day!
2. Use Gentle and Soothing Bath Soap.
This one is crucial! I remember when Evie was a tiny babe, I was so concerned with making sure she had soothing and gentle bath soap. After all, newborn skin is so sensitive! But as she got older I didn’t focus as much on using gentle bath soap, I didn’t think it would be a big deal. A few months ago Evie started to get really dry skin (Utah winters are pretty rough). So I searched for a product that would leave her skin actually feeling moisturized after her baths! And I found out that Dove has baby products!! You guys know that Dove is my FAVORITE to use on myself so the fact that I can use it on Evie made me so happy!! Here are some of my favorite things about Baby Dove Rich Moisture Tip to Toe Wash and Baby Dove Rich Moisture Baby Lotion:
•It gently moisturizes baby skin for 24 hours and soothes dry skin from the first use.
•Gentle, hypoallergenic, and pH-neutral baby lotion.
•Their formulas are created without dyes, parabens or phthalates.
•Their gentle and safety-tested formula is dermatologist and pediatrician-tested.
•It smells AMAZING.
•You can even use it on newborns!
The Baby Dove line has products for all skin types in its Rich Moisture and Sensitive Moisture ranges, which go beyond mildness to actually replenish moisture and lock in nutrients. This is definitely a superior way to care for baby’s skin. Learn more about Baby Dove products by visiting Dove.com.
3. Have fun toys and activities in the bath for your toddler.
This one might seem obvious but the best things I have done with Evie’s bath time toys is to keep them hidden away until bath time. I learned that if I let her play with them during the week then she isn’t interested in them by the time bath time rolls around.
I also purchased foam letters and numbers for the bath so that when she’s in there we learn numbers and letters. This ensures that she gets my 100% attention, which she LOVES! I also found some bath crayons and bath paint. She has a blast coloring/painting all over the tub!
What are some things that you do or products that you have in the tub with your toddlers that help them to love bath time! I would love to have some more ideas!
