I have the worst dry winter skin! It’s itchy and scratchy and If I don’t pay close attention to it all winter long then I get horrible eczema and once that happens, there is NO coming back from that for months. If you’re anything like me and you have horribly dry skin, here are my three best winter skincare tips and tricks!
- Moisturize EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I know that this might sound like the DUMBEST suggestion but believe it or not, I wasn’t doing this before because my skin didn’t feel like it needed to be moisturized until it got overly dry, itchy, and uncomfortable. I found out that I had to moisturize every single day when I was pregnant because I was using cocoa butter cream to moisturize my belly every night to help prevent stretch marks (it worked really well by the way, I only got a couple stretch marks and they are small). I found that throughout the winter my belly was the only part of me that stayed nice and moisturized while the rest of my body was itchy and dry. Go figure! haha
- Moisturize every single part of your body, including your hair and your lips.
I know that your hair isn’t considered your skin but it’s made partly from your skin and your skin moisture can play a big role in how dry your hair gets. If you are moisturizing every part of your body, as well as making sure your hair gets some good argan oil on it every day then your hair and skin are likely to feel better all around! I also make sure to put on chapstick every night before I go to bed to keep my lips soft and moisturized.
- Use a quality moisturizer.
This one is KEY. My two favorite all over body moisturizers are the Aloe Vera Hand and Body Lotion from Queen Helene which is used for dry and sensitive skin (I especially love this in the summertime- the aloe vera in it is AMAZING) and Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion from Queen Helene is especially good if you have SEVERE dry skin or suffer from eczema like I do!
Do you have dry skin? What do you do to help it? I would love more tips and tricks!
