In case you hadn’t noticed, I am well endowed in the tush region… aka, I have a big tush :). I have learned over the years to just embrace it! No matter what I do, or how much weight I lose, it’s always been big. After all, in the words of Sir Mix-a-lot, “I like big butts and I cannot lie” so if Sir Mix-a-lot can like my butt, then I can too!
However, one of the more difficult obstacles around having a big tush has been learning how to dress it! If I wear a flowy tunic it will just hang over my tush and look sort of “tentish”, like I don’t have a waist.
So here are three things that I have done to to make it look like I have a waist and accentuate my curves when I am wearing a flowy dress or tunic:
- Wear a more fitted crop jacket or vest– a crop jacket is key here because you need the jacket to hit above your tush/hip area. If it fits below the tush area then it will flow over the top just like the tunic, and you will not achieve the waist accentuating effect that you were going for!

- Tie a shirt around your waist– this is absolutely one of my very favorite trends that isn’t going anywhere quite yet! That shirt really really helps to accentuate your waist and it also helps hide some tummy bulge….it’s a win win!
- Wear a belt around your waist– a belt around a tunic, in my opinion, wouldn’t look all that great (depending on the tunic) BUT a belt around a flowy dress would look fantastic!
