Holy cow! I can’t believe its been about a week since my last blog post. I have missed truly missed you! I am sorry I’ve been MIA I started my first week back at teaching this week and to put it lightly…it has kicked my hiney!
This year is my second year teaching, I taught 5th grade last year and 4th grade this year. I thought that I would have the hang of things the second time around but turns out I really still have no idea what I am doing. I felt like I was doing it all over again this year for the first time. I was completely taken off guard. Last year around January my 5th graders and I just clicked, I loved them before January…don’t get me wrong, but something clicked and the vibe in our classroom was unlike anything else! It was energetic but controlled, fun (with tons of reallllly dumb jokes from Mrs. J) but they were still respectful. I could say something goofy and they would laugh and be back ready to learn within 30 seconds. I 100% fell in love with those kids. Going from that classroom vibe to summer and then into a new class with younger kids and not the same vibe was so much harder than I imagined.
But after I sent my cute 4th graders out the door Friday afternoon and sat at my desk to debrief my week… I was overwhelmed with SO MUCH love for my 4th graders. I remember feeling this EXACT same way with my 5th graders at this time last year and from what I see from these 4th graders, they have potential to steal my heart just as much or maybe even MORE than my 5th graders did last year….shhhh, don’t tell them I said that!
My name is Whitney Johnson and I’m an addict. I’m addicted to teaching. It’s one of the hardest, at times the most gut wrenching, longest days of my life…but there’s nothing I would rather do. I look forward to it, I crave it, I can’t wait to see that light bulb turn on in my students eyes. There is something so humbling about getting to mold these little minds and truly touch the future. I feel honored that 37 parents trust me enough to teach and love their children each day.
Okay… I’m done now. Let me tell you about my favorite maxi outfit ever! The “Something Splendid tee is from ROOLEE. This shop is amazing. They have some of the cutest selection of everything that I have EVER seen.
My maxi skirt is from that amazing Agnes and Dora. This shop has the cutest leggings, tunics, kimonos, maxi skirts and dresses….basically anything you could ever want! Ready for the best part? They are having a warehouse sale in Provo this coming Tuesday from 6-9. I went to their last one and I got over $200 worth of apparel for about $40. This sale does not disappoint. I have been to other companies warehouse sales where the company has all of their items out that they can’t sale on their site…not Agnes and Dora. Everything you see on their site will be at their warehouse sale…sometimes even more than what you see on their site will be there. It is one of those warehouse sales that is more than worth you while….and I’m going to be there, I would LOVE to see you! Here’s the information:
My amazing pictures were done by one of my most favorite people and photographers ever, Deanna Adele. I will be posting more about her along with a few fun surprises later…so stay tuned!
